Among Margaret Sanger's many books are: What Every Mother Should Know (1917) and Woman and the New Race (1920)#Sanger was born Margaret Higgins and married architect William Sanger in 1902. They had three children but divorced in 1920. Two years after her divorce she married J. Noah Slee#While working as a nurse in New York's Lower East Side, Sanger wrote for the left-wing paper, The Call. One of her articles on venereal diseases was suppressed by the government#Sanger campaigned for women's suffrage and from an early age mixed with revolutionaries such as American anarchist, Emma Goldman#Sanger became President of the International Planned Parenthood Federation in 1953#In 1960 a contraceptive pill went on sale in the US. For the first time, women had complete control over their own fertility. The Pill helped usher in the sexual revolution of the Sixties
